PORLOCK Reserves extended made it three consecutive league victories in Division Two of the Taunton and District Saturday League at the weekend with a thrilling 3-2 win over Dulverton Town.
The hosts made a bright start and took the lead within the opening 15 minutes in spectacular fashion. Joshua Baynham produced a moment of real quality, delivering an outrageous outside of the boot pass over the top for Oliver Heathfield, who kept his composure to slot home.
Porlock didn’t have to wait long to double their advantage. From a free-kick 25 yards out, Darren Flurry cleverly stepped over the ball before whipping in a dangerous delivery to the back post where Baynham volleyed past the goalkeeper.
Dulverton began to grow into the game and were handed a golden opportunity to halve the deficit from the penalty spot. However, Dave Sowden produced a superb save.
The pressure continued to build, and just before the break, Dulverton capitalised firing a powerful effort into the net for 2-1.
The second half saw Porlock dominate, creating numerous chances but were unable to score. Their persistence eventually paid off when they won a free-kick just outside the box, which Flurry delivered in style, curling a brilliant strike into the top right corner.
Dulverton refused to give in and, as Porlock once again began to feel the effects of the game, a long ball forward allowed their striker to pull another goal back, setting up a tense finish. However, the hosts held firm to secure a deserved 3-2 victory.
This result sees Porlock Reserves climb a place in the league table and continue their impressive run of form. They will look to make it four wins in a row this Saturday as they travel to Nether Stowey Reserves, a side they defeated 2–0 earlier in the season.
