PORLOCK hosted second from bottom side Wellington A on Saturday and showed their superiority convincingly beating their visitors 11-1 in the Taunton and District League Premier Division.

Fresh from two cup victories, the Robins turned their attention briefly back to the league and what a game it turned out to be for them at West Somerset College.

Porlock came out of the traps like lightning scoring their first goal of the afternoon through a neat finish from winger Joe Fitzsimmons after five minutes.

Shortly after, skipper Adam Langdon joined in on the action to double Porlock’s tally for the game. The goals kept flowing as at around the 15-minute mark Caleb Laney had drifted out wide where he squared the ball to Ollie Morris to tap into an empty net.

Some good play between the midfield three of Mike Mullen, Adam Langdon and Morris saw a ball threaded through the Wellington back line and sent Laney to open his account and it 4-0.

Porlock were hungry for more and Fitzsimmons was next to score to put Porlock five goals to the good, and just before half-time the hosts were awarded a penalty from whichLaney rifled into the top right-hand corner to make it 6-0 at the interval.

After half-time, Jari High, Lewis Goodrum and Ryan Parsons were brought on to attempt keep Porlock playing at pace, and a neat passage of play down the left-hand side saw the ball cut back to edge of the box which was run on to by Morris who grabbed his second to make it 7-0.

A long throw by Morris found the head of Laney who flicked the ball to Langdon who claimed his second goal of the afternoon,.

Charlie Dodd came on and slotted straight in to the attack. He got his reward after he cut inside the full-back before striking the ball into the top left-hand corner to make it 9-0.

Wellington were still playing their part in the game and had a foul given just inside the Porlock half which was whipped in. A visiting player was brought down and a penalty was awarded with the Tangerines winger stepping up to slot the ball past Connor Paterson to end the hopes of a third consecutive clean sheet for the Robins.

However with goal difference in mind, Porlock pushed for more goals and they continued to flow as Laney completed his hat-trick shortly after, which was very shortly followed by his fourth goal of the afternoon as he pressed the Wellington centre back and nicked the ball from beneath his feet and fired home to put Porlock 11-1 up.

With five minutes to play another long throw was delivered by Porlock and was flicked on by Langdon to the back post where Jari High was arriving, but the connection off his head was too sweet and the ball fired into the crossbar and the Wellington defence cleared to safety where referee Brett Naylor brought the end of the second half, and also to the end of a very dominant display from Porlock.

The West Somerset side now sit fourth in Premier Division table but only three points off second place with three games in-hand over Bridgwater-based Dunwear United, so there is still plenty to play for this season.

They are next in league action this Saturday as they host Bridgwater Grasshoppers (2.30pm).
