MINEHEAD Barbarians held their annual senior awards dinner on Friday evening, writes Bryan Stevens.
Before the awards, members were reminded of the 80th Anniversary Summer Ball, on 27 June. There are only few tickets left for sale.
The main speech was from Director of Rugby, Richard Parsons, who told of a successful season for the 1st XV, and only games being cancelled by the opposition detracting from a significant improvement by the 2XV.
Joe White praised the efforts of the Colts team, whose effort and attitude had built a fine team spirit, and some will soon be joining the senior squad.
Tributes were paid to James Baker, who has been an outstanding club chairman, and is now standing down. Also standing down is Richard Parsons, and the club is indebted to their efforts.
The recent loss of former coach Ken Hirons was mentioned.
Jack Claydon spoke on behalf of the coaching staff, he talked of the hard work of the two head coaches, Isaiah Graham-Hooper, and more recently Greg Richards. Jack also spoke of how much his family had felt supported by the Barbarian family, as they dealt with the sad loss of his father Malcom.
