Taunton and District Saturday League Division Two
Porlock Reserves 5–1 Bridgwater Albion FC
PORLOCK Reserves produced a strong attacking performance to run out convincing 5–1 winners over Bridgwater Albion.
The star man for the home side was once again skipper Oliver Heathfield who led the way with an excellent hat-trick.
The hosts started the game on the front foot and took the lead through Heathfield, who finished well to put Porlock ahead early on.
Bridgwater Albion responded shortly afterwards and managed to level the match, taking advantage of a chance to make it 1–1.
The home side quickly regained control of the game and were awarded a penalty before half-time. Heathfield stepped up confidently and converted from the spot to restore the lead and give Porlock a 2–1 advantage going into the break.
The second half saw Porlock take firm control of proceedings. Ryan Cape extended the lead with an excellent strike from outside the box, giving the Albion goalkeeper little chance and making it 3–1.
Heathfield then completed his hat-trick with a well-executed counter-attack. Breaking forward with pace, Porlock caught the visitors exposed and Heathfield finished calmly to put the result beyond doubt at 4–1.
Porlock added a fifth late in the game when Karl Middleton-Smith rose well from a corner to score, rounding off a dominant performance for the hosts.
Overall it was an impressive display from Porlock Reserves, combining solid defending with clinical finishing to secure a well-deserved 5–1 victory.
This result sees the hosts move to within one point of their nearest rivals Minehead Reserves with a game in hand. This coming weekend Porlock Reserves host another of their local rivals, Dulverton Town who are currently fourth in the table.
