THE newest member of Watchet’s youth football side was officially welcomed to the team at last week’s home game - Henry the Hoover.
Fittingly sporting the red and black colours of Watchet Town, Henry and a host of other cleaning products have been bought for the upkeep of the home changing rooms thanks to a £300 donation from Watchet’s Community Bookshop.
The team have also benefited from a new goalkeeper’s kit and corner flags.
Jan Simpson Scott, from the bookshop, said: “We are delighted to be able to support important community groups like this and hope that the equipment purchased will help with the continued success of the under 7 and under 8 teams.”
The Under 8s continued their good form in the league with two wins against Wellington’s sides.
In the first game against the Tigers, they secured a convincing 6-0 win with Harvey Henderson scoring a hat-trick, Zak Watson netting two and Oli Webber getting the other.
The second game against Wellington Lions was very competitive, with strong challenges by both sides, but Watchet kept their composure to lead 3-0 at half time thanks to a hat-trick from Watson.
The Lions came out firing in the second half and pulled a goal back straight away, but strong defensive displays from Lloyd Harding and Reece O’Mahony and a late Ashton Bruford goal sealed a 4-1 win for Watchet.
