WATCHET Town’s fixture away to Stockwood Green in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League last Saturday was postponed when an early morning inspection ruled the Bristol side’s pitch unfit.
It was one of many games in the region to fall a victim of the wet weather. The Red & Blacks now face a run of four home matches which takes them into the New Year with Ashton & Backwell United scheduled to begin the sequence this weekend (December 13, kick-off 2pm.).
Watchet are still hoping to bolster their numbers with some more new faces in their lineup. Meanwhile midfielder Aaron Scott remains a long term casualty and front man Alfie Cox, along with utility player Aerron Clausen, are also still on the injured list going into 2026.
One game to defy the elements last weekend was the Taunton Saturday league Division Two encounter between Watchet Reserves and Dulverton Town. An entertaining West Somerset local derby ended with honours even following a 1-1 draw.
A couple of last ditch blocks kept Watchet’s goal intact as the visitors’ lively young front runners threatened. Watchet missed a chance when Adam Jefferies saw his penalty saved by veteran keeper Carl Hooper’s boot The dangerous Findlay then gave Dulverton an interval lead and almost added to it soon after half-time but home keeper Regan Gallagher deflected his firm drive onto the crossbar.
After Watchet had strong appeals for a second penalty turned down Andrew Pope made a fine headed clearance off the line at the other end. Charley Clausen’s curled free kick from just outside the box levelled things and set up an end to end finish which could have gone either way. Watchet Reserves: Regan Gallagher, Andrew Pope, Joe Kennedy, Alex Seys, Josh Aspey, Eden Hines, Karl Boswell, Aiden Buller, Charley Clausen, Dan Godfrey, Adam Jefferies. Used subs: Chase Clausen, Ashton Bruford, Joel Bradford.
