SOMERSET County Cricket Club Women’s assistant coach and batting lead Kieran Peters has extended his contract.
Kieran said: “It’s great that I’ll be continuing to work alongside the women’s programme after such an enjoyable season. It’s been awesome to see the growth across the squad, and it’s been really cool that the team have been battling it out for places in finals days. I’m really excited to continue the journey.
“My time at the club so far has been awesome and this place means a lot to me. I’ve witnessed first hand the transition from the amateur era to Somerset now being a fully professional side in Tier 1 cricket. It’s been great to see the growth of individuals and also the growth of the club as a whole.
“My primary focus is developing everyone’s batting. The nature of white ball cricket is that the game is constantly moving forward, so there’s a lot of space for growth in terms of continuing to develop people who hit with power and put bowlers under pressure.
“One of the great things about working with a young squad is there’s a lot of growth still to be had. I’m looking forward to continuing to build on what we have developed this year so that we can continue to fight for trophies in the future.”
Somerset head coach Erin Osborne said: “KP’s a wonderful fit for our squad. I think the way he communicates with the playing group, the relations he’s built over time and the improvements we’ve seen with our batting group is a testament to the work he’s done. He rightly deserves an extension with his contract.
Erin added: “He’s done a mountain of work to get the group to where they are now. He’s a wonderful person to have around the squad and I’m really glad he’s signed on again.”
