A West Somerset shoplifter has been fined and ordered to pay costs and compensation totalling more than £108 for stealing items valued at £32.64.
Jessica Payne, aged 34, of Townsend, Williton, admitted two counts of theft when she appeared in Taunton Magistrates Court on Monday (August 10).
Prosecuting solicitor Kevin Withey said both thefts were from the village’s Spar shop, on April 2 and 16 this year.
In the first instance, Payne stole pizza, crisps, chocolate, and biscuits valued at £16.64, while items stolen on the second occasion were not listed but totalled £16.
The chairman of the bench, Dr Hannah Gales, fined Payne £18 on each count after taking into account her guilty pleas, and ordered compensation for the stolen items and a contribution toward prosecution costs.
