TWO men from Bristol who stole more than £300 of goods from a garden centre in Minehead appeared for sentencing in Taunton Deane Magistrates Court on Monday (August 3).

Gilbert Bray, aged 60, of Knowle West, and Paul Sheppard, aged 54, of Bedminster, both admitted the theft of various items valued together at £316.42.

Prosecuting solicitor Emma Lenanton told the court the thefts had happened in the West Somerset Garden Centre, in Mart Road, on May 8 this year.

The chairman of the bench, Timothy Holden, fined Bray £160 and ordered him to pay compensation of £158.21 and £85 toward the costs of the prosecution.

Mr Holden ordered Sheppard to pay £158.21 in compensation plus an £85 contribution to the prosecution costs.
