SOMERSET Cricket Foundation surprised the Minehead U3A Walking Cricket Group by dropping in with the Vitality Blast T20 trophy! Somerset Cricket Foundation held an afternoon of Walking Cricket at the Minehead Eye to engage and inspire potential new players into the game of Walking Cricket.
Walking Cricket is a sport just played at a slower pace – so it’s perfect for people who are older, or possibly less physically able, but who still want to enjoy the thrill of the game.
Walking Cricket is not just about the physical benefits or winning a game, it’s about the team spirit, developing new relationships and maintaining good mental health. Of course the development of cricket skills is also a great achievement but it is often the enjoyment of the activity and each other’s company that motivate our participants to come back every week.
For most participants, the U3A Minehead Walking Cricket group has not only created an accessible way to improve fitness but an invaluable opportunity that has given cricketers something to look forward to. Walking Cricket is a way to remain active, socialise safely and most importantly a means to enjoy each other’s company, have a laugh and create new friendships
