BELL All Stars, top of the Premier Division in the Watchet and District Men’s Skittles League, got back to winning ways as Barrie Jones hit a noteworthy 126 in the 68-pin defeat of Three Ferrets whose Simon Norman scored 110, writes Alan Bulpin.
The local derby at the Bird in Hand went the way of revitalised Allsorts whose Shane Coxhead tallied a score of 139 in the 67-pin defeat of Bottoms Up with Brandon Walsh leading their scoring with 120. A score of114 from Castaways Nick Lane keeps them in touch with the leaders after recording a 44 pin home win over Railway Steamers who had Phil Perkins hitting 107.
The closely fought match between the two football club teams ended with Q C Guys winning by 14 pins against Phoenix Knights, Guys Tim Short scoring 112 and Brandon Jones hitting 110 for the Knights.
At the British Legion in Watchet, Zacc Binding was in fine form, knocking 116 as Jack, with an impressive team total of 643, defeated stablemates Has Beens by 71 pins, Stuart Mitcham heading their scoring with 106.
In Division A, the match at Williton Club between the club side and Rams was going the way of the visitors after eight hands with them holding a 12 pin advantage but four 50 plus hands up to full time saw the home side to victory by 44 pins, Brian Bellamy hitting 102 and the Rams Leigh Davis 90 leading the scoring.
A score of 102 from Dungbeetles’ Aaron Kendall helped them secure a 34 pin away win against Haddon Hillbillies to put them one point off the top of the table, Jeremy Andrews topping the alley with 109 for the hosts.
Barn Owls picked up their fourth away win of the season after Duncan Munro scored 118 in the 49 pin success over Dizzy’s Boys whose Gary Walsh scored 100.
Dean Manley scored a useful 114 for Footy Fockers in the 40 pin home win over Watchet Specials who had Daniel Perkins hitting 101.
The Wyndham Arms derby match between Warriors and Pinheads was a close fought affair with victory eventually going to the Warriors by 11 pins. Chris Williams led the winners, scoring with 104 while Robbie Whitehead and Sam Towells both scored 101.
