WIVELISCOMBE will be chasing their seventh successive rugby victory when they play at home to Torquay Athletic in Counties One Western West on Saturday, December 13 (2.30p.m.).

Top of the table Wiveliscombe have not lost a match since they went down 21-17 away to Truro early in September.

Since then they have established themselves as the strongest team in the division and have an eight-point lead over second-placed Paignton who lost 36-19 at Wiveliscombe at the end of last month.

Wiveliscombe are having one of their best ever seasons under coaches Mark Chatterton, Rob Weaver and Alex Westcott.

Meanwhile, Wiveliscombe 2nd XV are finding it more difficult this season since promotion to Counties Three Somerset South. They play away to Bridgwater & Albion 2nd XV on Saturday, December 13, having won only two of their seven matches. They are 11th in the table with only Wellington (minus nine points) below them.

Wiveliscombe lst XV have one more home game - against Weston on Saturday, December 20 - before they play at home to local rivals Wellington in their annual Boxing Day fixture (2.30p.m.) which is a big money spinner whichever club hosts the game.

Wellington staged the match at the Athletic Ground at the end of last year and the match ended in a 14-14 draw before a bumper crowd of 2,000, after Wivey had won on their own patch the previous year.
