WIVELISCOMBE’S opening rugby game of the new season in Regional Two South West will be away to Crediton on Saturday, September 12.

Prop Will Ellis will again lead the side, having captained them last season when they won Counties One Western West, winning 18 of their 22 matches. They finished four points clear of runners-up Paignton.

Wiveliscombe’s first home game in the division will be against Winscombe the following Saturday.

A Wivey club official said: “One of the worries at the moment is the hard grounds. We desperately need rain - and plenty of it or I can see matches being postponed.”
