SAM Bowker was three runs short of scoring a double century for Stoodleigh in the third division of the West Somerset Cricket League.

Bowker’s inings in the 129-run victory at home against Buckland St Mary & Bishopswood included 36 boundaries - 22 fours and 14 sixes.

Bing Torrance also hit 44 for second-placed Stogumber who scored 341-7 in chalking up their seventh victory of the season. In response St Mary made 219-9 with opener Charith Liyanagamage bowled for 96 while Edward Mock took 3-35.

Minehead continued their dominance of the division, beating Over Stowey by eight wickets to stay 94 points ahead of Stoodleigh. Stowey were shot out for 57 with S Anilkumar, R Rajan and A Rajan taking three wickets.

Ashbrittle remain only 15 points behind Stoodleigh with a game in hand after gaining a nine-wicket away victory over Wiveliscombe who were bowled out for 151 with J Fyfe scoring 94 of their runs. L Westcott took 3-31. P Woodberry scored 54 and R Hill 57 for Ashbrittle.

Stogumber have a 39-point lead at the top of the fourth division after they were awarded 35 points owing to East Huntspill failing to fulfil their fixture.

Morebath, in second place, won by seven wickets at Roadwater who, batting first, were all out for 176 with Ryan Dellow 95 not out. Andrew Foxford took 4-31.

Morebath knocked off the runs in 29 overs with Stephen Kelland scoring 47 and Paul Crittenden 41 not out.
