£67,000 in prize money up for grabs

TAUNTON race again on Tuesday (February 8) when they host the Love Musgrove Race Day with the first of the seven events on the card - which has a total prize fund of more than £67,000 - set to post at 1.15pm

The card contains two Class 3 events, the first of which is The Invest SouthWest Supporting Love Musgrove Mares’ Novices Hurdle race over two miles and half a furlong which has a prize fund of £13,000 and due off at 2.25pm.

The feature race is The Taunton Kia Supporting Love Musgrove Steeple Chase (Class 3) over two miles seven furlongs which has prize money of £16,000 up for grabs and is due to post at 3pm.

This is followed by The Mike Morgan Electrical Services Supporting Love Musgrove Handicap Hurdle Race over two miles and half a furlong which has £9,000 on offer in prizes.

Taunton Racecourse are hosting their popular Gold Cup and Grand National Lunches again this year, both in the Orchard Portman Restaurant.

The Gold Cup Lunch is on Friday, March 18, while the Grand National event is on Saturday, April 9.

Both lunches include a welcome drink, a two-course lunch and afternoon tea, full coverage of the feature and supporting races, the services of an in house bookmaker and a champion tipster competition.

In addition each afternoon will be hosted and compered by Martin Higgs and will provide the opportunity to watch the two blue riband events of the national hunt season with like minded people.
