THE opening competition of the week which was played by Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club Seniors had to contend with a keen easterly wind that certainly added some additional challenges to the round. Plus it was warm.
However Graham Troman and Mark Swallow handled the conditions superbly well, returning 43 points from the 4BBB white tee event. Close behind with 42 points were Roger Read and Richard Austwick while Martin Hole and Tony Connolly took third place with 39 points.
The midweek Texas Scramble proved to be a closely fought competition. The winning team of Martin Hole, Tony Connolly and Mark Watson recorded a nett 59, while the next seven teams were separated by one point.
In second place on countback with nett 62 were Graham Troman, John Burrow and Nigel Trevelyan with third place going to Malcolm Bruce, Karl Granger and Roger Read.
