DUNSTER Dragons Under 14s lost 5-2 away to second-placed Tone Youth on Sunday.

Felix Davis, making his debut, played a key role in some early chances, first feeding the ball through to Jameson Brannigan for a shot then seeing his own shot cleared by the last defender.

With some good passing and movement in midfield and every player looking to have stepped up their game, Dunster produced some skillful play.

And with Wills Walsh, playing out of position, alongside Greg Horrobin, Liam Pope and Todd Turner at the back, they were rarely threatened, and the opening goal by Tone came against the run of play.

Tone were frustrated by being outplayed and committed a bad foul on Chris Barratt, and only a good save by the Tone keeper kept his stinging shot out.

Moments later a push in the back earned Barratt another free-kick, which came to nothing, then a throw-in from Turner led to a shot from Walsh which was saved.

Tone added a second goal from long range, but Dunster pulled one back when Lochlan Ruston provided the perfect pass to Jameson Brannigan and he netted from 30 yards out.

In the last five minutes of the half, Dunster looked by far the better team and were it not for the Tone keeper would have been ahead.

The second half began with a shot by Cy Villenueva being saved, but Dunster were then unlucky to concede another goal from nothing.

A free-kick by Villenueva went just inches wide and Ruston saw his shot saved.

Dunster then made it 3-2 when a corner was headed clear by Wills Walsh and Brannigan chased the ball down and slipped it home for his second goal.

A good period of pressure saw Ruston get on the end of a Barratt pass but he sent his shot over the bar as they sought an equaliser.

Cruelly they were then beaten by a long-range shot, and from their only free-kick of the game, Tone’s striker broke free of the wall and shot home to make it 5-2.

Dunster created more chances but couldn’t find the net again.
