WATCHET Under 8s football team have received a welcome boost from customers at the town’s Bell Inn who joined thousands of participants nationwide to take part in the World’s Biggest Pub Quiz.

The aim was to raise money for local causes and charities while also trying to break the Guinness World Record for the largest multi-venue quiz.

And the Under 8s squad were the lucky recipients of the funds raised on the evening - £147 from entry fees and a raffle plus teo donations of £50 from Studio 51 in Watchet and a generous anonymous donation of £100.

The money will help buy new kit, footballs and training equipment.

The youngsters’ good form in the league has brought them two away wins - 6-1 against Ashcott and 3-1 against North Curry – and in recent home games they enjoyed a well-organised 3-0 win over Wembdon and a thrilling 5-5 draw against neighbours Williton, with goals coming from Harvey Henderson, Ollie Webber, Ashton Bruford and Chase Clausen.
