PORLOCK Ladies played their last match of the season in Division Two of the Somerset Women’s Football League away to Ilminster - and put up a spirited fight before losing 9-2.

The first half saw Ilminster come out strong, pressing hard and stretching play wide while looking to break through the middle. They quickly showed their pace, youth and skill, finding the net three times before half-time.

Porlock didn’t make it easy, continuing to battle throughout. Kez rattled the crossbar showing Ilminster what she was capable of from range. Helen stepped up to play in goal despite it not being her usual position. She showed real team spirit and resilience, giving everything for the team and playing a key role.

Aimee, Georgia and Julie worked tirelessly in midfield and Kez kept delivering some great balls out to Kayleigh on the wing, creating a few promising chances, but the Ilminster keeper kept them at bay.

The second half brought changes and difficult weather conditions, but Porlock continued to fight. The defence worked hard, covering for each other and staying determined, though Ilminster added to their tally, taking their score to nine.

Despite this, Porlock Ladies never gave up. Their persistence paid off when Kez struck a fantastic goal from outside the box, making it 9–1. The team kept pushing, and with some excellent link-up play, started from Georgia, out to Kayleigh for a well delivered ball in the box to set up Ellie—one of Porlock’s newer players—who showed great determination to press the keeper and score, bringing the final score to 9–2.

While the result didn’t go their way, the team spirit never dropped. Porlock supported, encouraged, and worked for each other right until the final whistle.

Joint Player of the match: Lauren for her solid defensive performance; Helen for stepping up to play in goal.
