MINEHEAD and West Somerset Golf Club’s Ladies Section saw the end of March bringing their first external match of the year.
Ten ladies represented the section away at Taunton and Pickeridge in the annual match against Taunton and Pickeridge and Enmore.
The ground conditions were good, but some temporary tee mats had to be endured. Despite our best efforts Minehead and West Somerset were not victorious with Taunton and Pickeridge winning the Silver Salver (lower handicappers) and Enmore the Bronze Shield (higher handicappers).
At home the ladies section competed for the Ponytz Cup. Jennifer James (30) was the winner with 36 points playing to her handicap. Second was Kay Luckett (24) with 30 points.
This week’s competition was the ‘Australian Spoons’ foursomes. The winners were Ginnette Bowyer and Lesley Davis with 38 points. This competition is played over a certain period, and golfers can play it many times with different partners, the eventual winner going forward to a regional final.
