SOMERSET brothers James and Thomas Rew have been named in the England Lions’ T20 and 50-over squads for next month’s tour of the Caribbean.

Both of the brothers James, who is 22 years old, and Thomas, who is 18, play their cricket locally for Taunton St Andrews and attended King’s College in Taunton.

The Rews played up through the Somerset age groups before joining the Academy after which both signed professional contracts with the county.

The Lions will play West Indies A in three T20s and five 50-over matches in St Kitts and Nevis.

Thomas Rew and Dan Lawrence will each captain the England Lions in an official match for the first time.

Thomas, 18, will lead the T20 team while Dan Lawrence will be in charge for the five-match 50-over series.

The youngest Rew captained the Young Lions to the final of the ICC Men’s U19s World Cup earlier this year and has been called into the England Men’s squad for the T20 series in Australia.

Rew, Eddie Jack and James Coles will fly out for that series after the Lions’ third match of their 50-over series in St Kitts and Nevis.

The two squads include nine players who were announced among the new Central Contracts earlier this month.

Rehan Ahmed, Sam Cook and Lawrence are on full Central Contracts with Mason Crane, Eddie Jack, Ben McKinney, Liam Patterson-White as well as Coles and Rew on Development Deals.

Worcestershire’s Adam Finch is the one uncapped Lions player in the squad.

The three England Lions v West Indies A T20 matches will all be played at the Conaree Sports Club, St Kitts & Nevis, the first beginning on Sunday, November 1.

The five match ODI series will also be played on St Kitts and Nevis, beginning on Saturday, November 7.
