WE HAD just four runners in the last week and three of them were second. All ran well and while frustrating to keep hitting the woodwork it is nice to have the horses in form, while many are waiting for the rain to arrive.
It was a pair of seconds for the team at Worcester last Wednesday but both horses bounced back from below par efforts previously.
Karnaval Point appreciated going back up in distance to three miles, seeing out the trip well. October Hill ‘bumped’ into a well handicapped rival to finish second in the 2m4f handicap hurdle.
Way of Stars was in the 4YO handicap hurdle at Chepstow on Saturday and ran a cracker to finish second, only beaten a short head.
There was a sad postscript to the weekend as we unfortunately lost Final Entry on Sunday who sustained an injury in his race and there was sadly nothing there could be done for him and the vet put him to sleep. My thoughts are with his owners Brian and Sue at this time and Debbie who looked after him.
This week Masterius and Bashful Boy both run at Southwell on Tuesday. Masterius has been placed in two bumpers and I am hoping he can win this contest before going novice hurdling.
Bashful Boy is a character in the twilight of his career but he shows us plenty of sparkle at home which is why he is still in training.
Neon Moon runs in the Native River handicap chase at Ffos Las on Wednesday. He is in cracking form at home and he tends to run well fresh so I am hopeful of a good run.
Keep checking the Daily News on the website for all the latest on the stable runners.
Horses in training: RED WINE SUPERNOVA - A lovely big mare she won a bumper on stable debut at Sedgefield. A nice prospect for novice hurdle this season; she will handle most types of ground.
SACCARY - He won his latest start at Worcester impressively after a hat-trick of second places. His win was over two miles but has been placed over 2m4f and he handles any ground so there will be plenty of options going forwards.
ROYAL MER - A seven-time career winner for us, two of which came in chases last season at Wincanton under his new ownership. He has a great attitude and I am sure this likeable grey can be adding to his wins.
SIREKOFF - A winner on stable debut at Newton Abbot in May 2025. Missed last season through injury but back cantering and hopefully will be on the racecourse before the ground softens too much.
SKIN FULL - He won easily at Taunton in March 2025 but sadly picked up an injury in that race and missed all of last season. He is likely to start over fences this season and there should be plenty more to come off his current rating.
TURENNE - Won in France and unlucky not to add to last season being second on debut at Catterick. Was in the lead and clear when falling at the last at Fontwell. He has had a nice long holiday and has summered well. Quite versatile with the ground and likely to stay further than two miles; he will also jump a fence one day.
