MINEHEAD lst XI made the trip to play against Wembdon Seconds in the Premier Division of the Somerset Cricket League where, after being put in, the hosts had scored 15 for 1 when the rain fell and put paid to any further play.

In Division 3 of the SCL Minehead Seconds travelled to Winford to play against Shaftesbury Road where, after being asked to bat, the visitors lost an early wicket. Sam Cobb was then joined by skipper Gregg Howard and the two shared a good partnership before the young opener was out for 20. Howard made an impressive 62 and lower in the order Matt Sully hit 48 before MCC were all out for 202 in 39 overs.

The home side made light work of their run chase and reahed 203 for the loss of one wicket in the 24th over.

Minehead Third XI were the most successful of the senior sides when they beat Wiveliscombe Seconds away by 69 runs in a 30 overs per side match.

After being put into bat the visitors lost Gifto Pulikkottil for 22 with 46 on the board which brought Adit Rajan to the wicket to join the in form Connor Paterson, who hit an unbeaten 85 the previous weekend. The second wicket partnership was worth 96 when Rajan was out for 37.

Patterson continued to plunder his runs and went onto score 103 before he was out, his runs coming from 83 balls with 16 fours and one 6. MCC went onto score 184 for 5 from their allotted overs. Nathan Pincombe, with 3 for 36 from his 7 overs, one of which was a maiden, was the pick of the home bowlers.

When Wiveliscombe replied opener Jack Warren batted solidly for his 32 after which Ben Lipscombe made 50 off 39 balls with five 4s and four 6s and at 108 for 3 the hosts looked to be in a good position. However they then collapsed to 119 all out in 25 .4 overs. The pick of the Minehead bowlers were Adit Rajan with 4 for 23 from 4 overs ,

Sreejith Anikumar claimed 3 for 23 from his 9 overs, one of which was a maiden, while Ben Cobb took 2 for 24.

Last Friday evening the Under 13s hosted Taunton but after only five balls the rain prevented any further play.

Minehead Under 15s were in action away against Taunton St Andrews who, batting first, posted 168 for 3 from their 20 overs, in reply to which the visitors reached 117 for 6 from their overs.

Meanwhile, Minehead lst XI are out of the SCF Intermediate Cup after they lost to Taunton Deane Seconds by 18 runs last Monday evening.

After choosing to bat first at the Convent Field, Taunton Deane hit 183 for 5 from their 20 overs, Chris James, Brandon Rawle and Rob Spiers each claiming a wicket. When they replied the Pirates made 165 for 5 from their overs Renjeesh Krishnan top scoring with 40, Dan Bowditch hitting 35 and Oli Ahern 21.

This coming Saturday Minehead Firsts are at home to Bridgwater Thirds, Minehead Seconds are away to Bishops Hull while the Thirds host Asbrittle.

On Friday the Under 13s travel to play at Trull while on Sunday the Under 15s host Taunton Deane and the Under 11s play at Taunton St Andrews
