MINEHEAD Thirds continued their relentless run of success when they beat Over Stowey Seconds by nine wickets at Luttrell Way on Saturday afternoon.

Already crowned champions in West Somerset Cricket League Division Three, the Pirates made it a double over their visitors when they chalked up their 11th victory of the season.

After choosing to bat first Over Stowey were bowled out for 65 in 22 overs, in reply to which the hosts reached 69 for the loss of one wicket.

Minehead Seconds were in action against Street at the Victoria Club in Division Three of the Somerset Cricket League. After being put into bat Minehead openers Dan Pawson and Jonah Hopkins added 57 together before the former was out for 11. Hopkins stayed to see the total onto 84 when he departed for 53 which he scored off 35 balls and which included 11 fours.

With the total on 86 for 4, teenagers Sam Cobb and Oli Ahern came together and added 42 before Cobb was out for 18. Ahern saw the total onto 148 when he was dismissed for 38.

Lower in the order Rob Spiers contributed 12 and James Griffiths 17 before Minehead were all out for 183 in 37.4 overs.

When Street responded Cobb and Griffiths accounted for both openers and then Brandon Rawle dismissed Sam Trotman, caught by Gregg Howard for 14.

Sadly for the visitors there was no further success for the bowlers as Ben Trotman, with an unbeaten 59, and Sam Frost, who ended 58 not out, saw Street to 185 without further loss and a seven wicket victory in 32 overs.

This coming Saturday Minehead Thirds travel away to play at Buckland St Mary and Bishopswood before ending their season on 5th September away at Wiveliscombe Seconds.

Minehead Seconds round off their season with a home game against Taunton Deane Thirds.
