THE new season in the Watchet and District Men's Skittles League will begin on Monday, September 7.

Due to the withdrawal of two teams, Rebels and Jack, the league will consist of two divisions, Premier and Division A, with ten teams competing in each. To ensure a full season, teams will play an additional nine games against each other (either four home/five away or vice versa), totalling 27 league games per team).

The points value for these additional nine games will be two for a win and one for a draw.

Premier League winners Bell All Stars open their league season with a home match against newly promoted Wyndham Pinheads which should be a good game while last season's Division A champions Williton Club entertain Q C Guys. Premier Division runners up Bottoms Up host Three Ferrets.

Both relegated sides from the Premier League open their campaign with home matches. Has Beens entertain Wyndham Warriors while Phoenix Knights play host to Dizzy's Boys.

The three-week break at Christmas has been reduced to two to allow the league season to finish on the 22nd of March, 2027, instead of the 29th which would have been Easter Monday.

The league secretary Alan Bulpin will canvas team captains before the end of the season to see if they wish to play a cup competition.

Alley change: The Barn Owls have relocated and will now play their home fixtures out of the Greyhound Inn at Stogursey.

Reports and results of all matches will be reported on a regular weekly basis in the Free Press.

*During the annual meeting held at Watchet Football Club last month, a tribute was paid with a minute's silence for former skittlers Darby Ash and Geoff Vaulter who were long standing members of the league who died recently.
