PORLOCK resident Rosemary Ball has been honoured by Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge (VDK) secretary general Dirk Backen for helping to care for the grave of a German airman killed in World War Two.
It followed a rededication ceremony where a headstone was installed in Hawkcombe Cemetery on the grave of Wilhelm Reuhl.

Herr Backen presented Ms Ball with a certificate to recognise her dedication in laying flowers four times a year at Easter, his September date of death, on Remembrance Day, and at Christmas.
A crest badge of the VDK, the German equivalent of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, was also presented to parish council chairman Cllr Duncan McCanlis.
