A PUBLIC exhibition is being planned to mark the passing of the millennium year in Minehead through the photographic talents of local people.

More than 50 community groups and individuals registered to take part in the Minehead 2000 Project, which asked people to take photographs of life in the town throughout the millennium year.

A public exhibition of their work will be held in Minehead from April 18 to 25, and there is still time for photographs to be submitted for the event.

Minehead town councillor, Lesley Culverhouse, said: "2000 was a busy year in Minehead, with many events taking place, and we're sure lots of people have lots of photographs.

"We don't just want them from those people who actually registered to take part - we want photos of any events, people and places that will help to build a record of life in Minehead during the whole year."

Cllr Ron Wright added: "The town's millennium year began with a walk of lights and fireworks at Minehead Harbour and ended with a terrific Christmas festival evening.

"Many people and organisations must have photographs of things they and their groups did throughout the year and we would like to use them to give a complete picture of Minehead."

Photographs to be submitted for consideration should be taken to the town hall in The Parade on weekdays between 9am and 4pm, before the end of February.

All photos should have the photographer's name and address on the back and details of when the photo was taken and, where applicable, of what event or person.

l Cllrs Culverhouse and Wright are pictured with some of the photographs already submitted.
