STREET scenes from cities around the world have been recreated in colourful signs featured in the latest exhibition at Watchet’s East Quay Arts Centre, which is continuing until Monday, August 31.

The solo exhibition by Poulomi Basu, an Indian artist, eco-feminist, and activist, is based on a selection of LED signs displaying the words ‘Always Coming Home’.

These are in English and a variety of other languages which include Turkish, Tagalog, Arabic, Kurdish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tamil, Spanish, Bengali, Hindi, Swahili, Malaysian, Persian, and Dkam.

Surrounded by a maze of electrical wiring, the colourful signs echo street scenes in Kolkata, India, and other cities, reflecting the flow of information, languages, and money which the artist believes define contemporary life.
