STAPLEGROVE are champions of the first division in the Uhlsport Somerset County League after beating title rivals Watchet Town 3-1 at home.

Although Watchet still have one more match to play, they are now six points adrift of the Taunton Side.

However, they have the consolation of knowing they will be back playing in the premier division as finishing runners-up.

Grove led 3-0 in the first half before Charley Clausen pulled a goal back before the interval. The match attracted a fair-sized crowd.

Minehead gained a fine 2-2 away draw with Peasedown Miners Welfare - also in the first division.
