MINEHEAD Ladies travelled to Winscombe for their last hockey match of the season. Minehead started strongly with a neat one-two between Tisshaw and Hayes resulting in Hayes striking from the top of the D to open the scoring within the first 36 seconds of the game. Minehead continued to work hard, passing the ball well between the midfield of Daughtrey, Plant, Hayes, Buller and Tisshaw, and the forward line of Cooper, Mitchell and Lancaster.

The accurate passing and communication allowed Minehead to pile the pressure on the Winscombe defence. A well timed cross from Hayes found Mitchell on the left post for her first of the game. A few attacks from Winscombe were soon swept up by the Minehead defence of Garwood, Bailey and Hirons who swiftly set up another wave of Minehead pressure.

A bouncing ball from Tisshaw found the net to make the score 3-0. Continued pressure from Minehead allowed Mitchell to find the goal with a delightful reverse shot, allowing Minehead to lead 4-0 into half time. After a quick half-time Jelly Baby break, Minehead kept the pressure on Winscombe. A lucky Winscombe break saw Minehead keeper Sparks make a crucial clearance, once again allowing Minehead to apply more pressure.

A quick long corner allowed Plant to let rip and score for the first time that morning. Another wave of Winscombe attack saw Sparks saving a shot onto her post and rebounding away. A final push of Minehead attack and another goal from Tisshaw left the final score at 6-0.

This final win rounds off a phenomenal season with Minehead Ladies remaining unbeaten with 17 wins and 1 draw.
