WITH registrations now closed for the forthcoming 2026/27 season, Watchet and District Men’s Skittles League will consist of twenty teams, writes Alan Bulpin.

Two sides are leaving the league - Rebels who are unable to raise a side and Jack who have decided to join the Dunster League.

Division A winners Williton Club and runners up Wyndham Pinheads are promoted to the Premier while Has Beens and Phoenix Knights will play in Division A.

At the committee meeting held on Tuesday, July 21, it was decided to structure the forthcoming season with the Premier League and Division A both consisting of ten teams.

The eighteen league games would see the season finish on the 25th January which the committee felt was too soon. After discussion it was agreed that both the Premier and Division A would play an additional nine games playing each team once.

Five teams would play five home and four away games and the other five would play four home and five away games. This would see the season finish on the more traditional March 22.

During February the secretary would canvas team captains on interest to play either in the Alan Clark or Landlords Cup.

One team has changed their alley; Barn Owls will now play from the Greyhound Inn at Stogursey.

It is not ideal having a reduced number of teams as it makes running a programme from September through to March extremely difficult.

At the Annual General Meeting League and cup trophies along with prize money was presented to the winners by the League President Dave Sully. Big congratulations go to our Premier league winners Bell All Stars who retained the Champion of Champion Cup, defeating the Dunster League side at the Top Ship.

All Officers were elected to continue on the Committee for the coming season.
