IN THE preliminary round of Watchet & District Skittles League’s Front Pin Cup, Bell All Stars took on Bottoms Up on the old alley at Watchet Football Club, writes league secretary Alan Bulpin.

A match winning 121 from Stars’ Andy Milton saw them progress to the next round defeating Bottoms Up by 30 pins, Ross Sweetland recording a score of 109.

A top of the alley 105 from Allsorts’ Brian Bishop led them to a comfortable 86 pin success against Rebels, for whom Nev Weir hit 85.

On the new alley at Watchet Football Club, Has Beens’ Steve Allen topped the scoring with 104 but finished on the losing side, going down by 21 pins to Castaways whose top scorer hit 90. At the Railway Inn Q C Guys had Tim Short hitting 87 as they booked their place in the next round with a 39 pin victory over Jack whose Steve Bosley topped the alley with 93.

In Group A of the Landlords Cup, round one, an impressive 103 from Footy Fockers’ Andrew Duffield led them to a 27 pin success over Wyndham Warriors who had skipper Phil Trunks hitting 93 while at the Social club in Minehead, Williton Club’s Steve King finished the match strongly, hitting 115 to see them to a 62 pins victory over Haddon Hillbillies who had Chris Govier knocking 108.

In Group B both matches produced outstanding individual performances; firstly Dungbeetles’ Aaron Kendall scoring 129 on the Williton Club alley as they ran out 97 pin winners over Dizzy’s Boys, whose Mark Mossman and Jamie Williams hit 91 and equally impressive was Rams Leigh Davis hitting 123 on the difficult Bell Inn alley as they ran out 22 pin winners against Barn Owls who had Lewis Scrimger scoring 102.
