WIVELISCOMBE lst XV will be competing in the end of season PAPA Johns Cup on Saturday, April 26.

They have been drawn away to the winners of the tie between Kingsbridge and Plymstock.

Wivelicombe ended their season in Counties One Western West by finishing in sixth place in the 12-team division. They played some good quality sides and scored a total of 537 points and conceded 439.

Twenty-two league games were played with 12 victories and ten defeats. Coach Mark Chatterton will be working hard to gain a promotion place next season, making it clear the team are capable of achieving this with the right attitude.

The club's second team enjoyed an excellent season in Counties Four Somerset South, They lost only one game in the 2024-25 season, finishing in top position.

They played 18 matches in the league, losing just the one fixture, away to the eventful runners-up Martock. Wiveliscombe scored 847 points and conceded only 118.

The team's coach Jamie Cox has confirmed the young team can look forward to a bright future if they continue to show similar conviction next season.

Women's rugby at Wiveliscombe has proved increasingly popular with the team competing well against sides from Cullompton, Sidmouth, Wellington, Trowbridge and Chard. Wiveliscombue finished top of their division and will be promoted to NC2 EW3 next season.

Junior rugby is in a healthy state at Wiveliscombe with teams beginning their rugby careers from the age of 11, leading up to Colts rugby at under 18.

Colts’ coaches Mark Barrington and Dan Stanbury have been working hard with the youngsters who are showing good promise for the 26-26 season. Hopefully, these players will secure a solid base in the club for seasons to come.

The Wiveliscombe club's end of season dinner and dance and awards night will be held on Friday, May 2.
