WIVELISCOMBE gained a 53-24 home win over Penryn in Western Counties West, having the game wrapped up by half time.
Playing down the slope in the first half Wiveliscombe played expansive rugby, moving the ball wide at every opportunity, allowing the backs to penetrate the visitors defence and cross for four tries. Winger Will Ruell, flyhalf Dan Quick, full back Will Thorne and scrum half Richard Baker with a try apiece. Flanker Sam Habberfield added the fifth first half try. Quick converted three of the tries plus penalty to give Wiveliscombe a 34-0 lead at halftime.
Playing with the slope and wind in the second half Penryn had some decent periods of play with strong running from both forwards and backs. Wiveliscombe continued with thier open rugby keeping the visitors at a safe distance on the scoreboard. Tries for Penryn came from hooker Chris Hillier with two and one each for back rowers Oliver Mount and Ross Mcknight. Captain James Salisbury converted two. Wiveliscombe’s second half tries were scored by second rower Rory Stone, hooker Tom Stone and Quick who added two conversion.
Wiveliscombe 2nd XV beat Hornets 3rds 44-17 away in Counties Three Somerset. Any Hornets team will provide tough opposition but Wiveliscombe gave an excellent performance, scoring seven tries to secure a bonus point victory.
Wiveliscombe winger Matthew Canfield crossed for two tries with second row Torin Keyte going over for a hattrick. Captain Luke Stevens and winger Tom Westcott completed the tries scored. Flyhalf Cameron Palk added three conversion and one penalty.

Wiveliscombe Ladies proved too strong for visitors Bridgwater Ladies in a League match played on Friday night on the Rec. The home team scored over 50 points. Their next fixture is against Trojans (away) on 19th October ( League).
