MINEHEAD Barbarians U13s were on the road again, travelling to Chard RFC for another well-contested match which ended in a brilliant 60-10 success. From the first whistle, Minehead set the tone with fast, confident rugby and excellent support play and the early pressure quickly turned into points. Oscar opened the scoring with a powerful hand-off and finish soon after which he struck again, this time running in from halfway. From a well-controlled scrum, Minehead built through the phases, ending with a smart offload from Oscar to Oliver Bishop, who crossed for another try. Oliver then added his second with another well-taken finish. Minehead kept the tempo high. George Tucker was unlucky not to add his name to the scoresheet after a great run, only to be denied by the touch judge. The tries kept coming, Owen Sellick powered over, Oscar Cox added another, Owen then claimed his second before Lewis Zeitzen finished off a neat passing sequence from an Oscar pass and by half Minehead led 45-0. After the break Chard returned with renewed energy and began to challenge Minehead more effectively, but the visitors defence stood firm. Oscar Cox added another try early in the half, but with the 50-point differential rule coming into play, Minehead made planned changes to balance the teams. Chard eventually crossed for a well-deserved try, restarting the score count after which Oscar Cox ran in two further tries while Chard added another late score as the game ended in a big win for Minehead. This was another strong display from the Barbarians, combining teamwork, skill, and determination throughout, a great effort from the whole squad. The awards for the day went to Harry Parfitt – outstanding tackling and defensive commitment, George Tucker – relentless work rate and attacking threat and Owen Sellick – strong running and intelligent support play
