MINEHEAD Barbarians end their rugby year in Counties Two Somerset with a tough home game against leaders Clevedon on Saturday, December 20 (2.30p.m.).

Clevedon have won all nine of their matches this season and have an eight-point lead at the top of the table over second-placed Burnham on Sea.

Minehead, who have lost two of their nine matches, will certainly have to beat Clevedon if they are to challenge for the championship.

However, they go into the match having not played last weekend because their fixture away to Imperial was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch following torrential rain in the previous 24 hours. Clevedon, on the other hand, played at home against Chew Valley and maintained their 100 per cent record with a 48-19 victory.

The Barbarians are lying third in the table, two points behind Burnham on Sea who beat Keynsham 99-17 at home last weekend. Both Minehead and Burnham have played the same number of games.

Rebels Rugby, who play their home matches at Milverton and are bottom of the table, entertain Oldfield Old Boys who are in ninth spot.

Fixtures for Saturday, December 20: Chew Valley v Burnham on Sea, Hornets v Imperial, Keynsham v Avon, Minehead Barbarians v Clevedon, Rebels Rugby v Oldfield Old Boys, St Berndadettes Old Boys v Castle Cary.

Minehead Barbarians 2nd XV, lying fourth in Counties Four Somerset, play away to Weston super Mare 3rd XV, who are one place below them in the table.

The Seconds, who were also without a fixture last weekend, are nine points behind leaders Burnham on Sea who have played two more matches.

Fixtures: Hornets v North Petherton, Wincanton v Tor, Yeovil v Morganians, Burnham on Sea v Somerton, Weston super Mare v Minehead Barbarians.
