WATCHET Town and Minehead both have home games in the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League this Saturday, December 20.
Watchet, whose only victory this season was a 1-0 home win against Congresbury in the first division towards the end of last month, play at home to fellow strugglers Stockwood Wanderers who have also won only one match this season (kick-off 2p.m.).
Watchet boss Nick Sully, who is hoping to include a couple of new faces, said: “I’m hoping to get something out of the game. But we were not as good against Ashton (lost 3-0) on Saturday as we had been in our previous two matches.
“We worked hard for our win over Congresbury and we will have to do the same if we are going to get something out of the match against Stockwood.”
Watchet, who will be without skipper Charley Clausen who is attending a wedding, are still without a point in the division because they had three points deducted earlier this season after postponing three matches.
Top game in the division is the fixture between leaders Nailsea United and third-placed Wells City who are separated by only one point, both having played the same number of matches.
Minehead will be looking to bounce back after their 2-0 away defeat against leaders Portishead Town Reserves, when they face Imperial who were impressive 3-0 home winners over Peasedown Miners Welfare last weekend (kick-off 3p.m.).
The seasiders slipped back to sixth in the table after last weekend’s setback and will have to beat Imperial if they are to stay up with the leaders in the division. They have played more games than other teams around them in the table.
Portishead have a three-point lead at the top of the table while second-placed Peasedown have a match in hand. The teams play each other at Peasedown this Saturday.
