MINEHEAD Barbarians Under 13s travelled to play against their rugby counterparts at Wells RFC on Sunday where they produced a dominant and determined performance to secure a convincing 50-5 victory despite squad changes and a physically competitive contest.

With several regular scrum players absent, the Barbarians were forced into changes early on. However, Ted Nelder, Sam Bradshaw, and Harry Colwill stepped up superbly, helping maintain a strong structure up front.

Wells showed real heart in defence, making Minehead work extremely hard for every metre. But pressure eventually turned into points, and the visitors crossed for six tries, three each for Oscar Cox and three for Oliver Bishop, the final one of which was a breakaway beauty.

Defensive contributions from Harry Blackmore and Sam Bradshaw ensured Wells could not find momentum and at the interval the score was Minehead Barbarians 30 – 0 Wells

In the second half playing with the slope in their favour, Minehead displayed pace and power and from the restart Harry Parfitt chased his own kick, beating defenders to touch down spectacularly in the corner - the perfect way to open the period.

An unfortunate injury briefly reduced Minehead to 12 players, allowing Wells to seize their moment and score.

However once they were back to full strength, the Barbarians regained control and scored three further tries, two for Harry Parfitt and one for Ed Coates - a solo run beating multiple tacklers.

Just before the end of the game the Barbarians rounded off things with a tenth try following another trademark breakthrough run by Oscar Cox.

Afterwards the Babas coach said: “It was aA hard-fought and well-deserved win, showing Minehead’s adaptability, teamwork, and composure under pressure. Every player contributed to a strong squad performance — certainly, one to be proud of!”
