SUNDAY sees the first day of the new rugby season for Minehead Barbarians’s mini and junior section.

The club will be open from 10am for registration, and the first training session back will begin at 10.30am.

The Barbarians have one of the largest and most successful junior sections of any club in the region.

They pride themselves on being a community club’ providing boys and girls with a sporting opportunity and also being a focal point for families and friends to meet on Sundays throughout the season.

The coaching team are all volunteers and they have been pro-active throughout the summer. Each age group has its own head coach who, in conjunction with their support team, produces individual coaching plans tailored to meet players’ technical development needs.

The coaches attend various RFU workshops and training sessions as well as a rugby-specific first aid course, ensuring the club provide RFU-standard qualified coaches.

The club are ‘RFU Accredited’ – a recognition that they reach and maintain required standards of safety, coaching and development of junior players.

The mini and junior section is always looking to welcome new players of any age or ability, and anyone interested is welcome to go along on Sunday.
