MINEHEAD will be chasing back-to-back wins when they play away to Clutton in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League on Saturday, February 21.

However, manager Lee Todd will be without five players who will all be on holiday, four of them going together.

And he admitted earlier this week: “It’s a struggle at the moment in putting out a side - it really is. It is proving very difficult but I’m sure we will get there.”

Minehead will be chasing the season’s double over Clutton, having beaten them 5-0 at home in late November. Olly Prescott, JJ Knight, and Stefan Phillips snapped up goals while Bertie Harvey-Lamar and Josh Elston came off the substitutes’ bench to net the other two.

“As far as I can remember looking back, it was a good performance,” added Todd.

Minehead are lying eighth in the table, but have played more games than teams around them. Clutton are 11th, four points behind Minehead with three matches in hand.

Portishead Town Reserves, who have a six-point lead at the top of the table, play away to third-from-bottom Glastonbury. The top match in the division, however, is the game between Combe St Nicholas and Peasedown Miners Welfare.

Meanwhile Watchet Town, bottom of the Premier Division, will be looking to bounce back after their 6-0 defeat at Staplegrove when they play away to Yatton & Cleeve United in the Premier Division - also on Saturday.

Watchet boss Nick Sully described the loss at Staplegrove as “very disappointing.” He said: “We lost Aaron Scott in the warm-up before the kick-off which just about sums up our season.”

Young midfielder Harvey Henderson, who missed the game against Grove because of a one-match ban, will be available to play against Yatton.

Leaders Chilcompton Sports play at home to Clevedon United while second-placed Nailsea United are home to Staplegrove.
