MATCH of the day between the top two sides in the Premier Division of the Watchet and District Men’s Skittles League swung in favour of Bell All Stars as Barrie Jones, with 111, led them to a narrow 14 home victory over second placed Bottoms Up, for whom captain Martin Larcombe hit 104, writes league secretary Alan Bulpin.
All Stars could secure the title next week if they win the return fixture at the Bird in Hand. Lewis Penfold was in good form, hitting 108 for Castaways in the 48 pin home win over Phoenix Knights, Mathew Snell also scoring 108.
Performance of the week belongs to Archie Walsh who scored 129 in Q C Guys’ 52 pin home success over White Horse Stallions with Ali Benham leading their scoring with 99. Tyrone Ash hit a top of the alley 116 for Three Ferrets as they overcame the challenge from Railway Steamers by 46 pins, Alan Harrod leading the Steamers scoring with 113.
The match between Allsorts and Has Beens was cancelled with the points being awarded to Allsorts. Rebels match against Jack was postponed, with the points also awarded to Jack. Highest Away Score: Archie Walsh 144 Q C Guys.
In Group A of the Landlords Cup, the match between Williton Club and Footy Fockers was a closely fought affair with victory going the way of the Fockers by 20 pins, Andrew Duffield leading their scoring with 103, Darren Towells topping the alley for the Club with 107.
The other game in Group A was a more straightforward victory for Haddon Hillbillies whose Ian Rottenbury scored 103 to lead them to a 84 pin win, Dave Perkins with 100 for the Specials.
In Group B of the same competition, Dungbeetles’ Tyler Kendall hit 117 in their 43 pin success against Barn Owls whose Jason Turner hit 105.
Rams picked up their second win in the group matches as Alf Goble with 99 led them to a 15 pin win over stable mates Wyndham Pinheads whose Sam Towells scored 97.
