MINEHEAD Reserves’ new look side gained a 7-0 home victory over Bridgwater Colts in a hastily arranged friendly and despite good efforts from the Bridgwater outfit, Minehead came out worthy winners.

Although playing the better football the Reserves did not press home their league status in the first half. After 15 minutes the defence settled down and Charlie Disney, Haydn Phippen, Luke Badcock and Torren Eldridge rarely looked threatened.

A midfield of Dan and Rob Vickers and Harvey Wright settled well and began to boss things and it was Rob who was on the receiving end of a Cam March pass and taking one touch passed the ball into the net from just outside the box.

The score remained 1-0 at half time but with Wolves tiring, Minehead bossed the game through their forwards of March, Haiden Griffiths and Scott Kivell. March scored the second giving the Blues breathing space and after bringing on substitutes Jani Jasielczuk, Lyam Scheepers and Cullen Bruford the goals began to rain.

Jasielczuk got his first, March his second and then Dan Vickers scored from the spot after a fine run from Badcock resulted in him being fouled in the area. This left time for Jasielczuk to score slotting home from a fierce shot from Rob Vickers rebounding off the bar to him and then completing a fine second half hat trick.

Although it is early days but a good start from the Blues Reserves.

Minehead Reserves will again be playing in the Premier Division of the Taunton Saturday League and open the season with a home game against Racehorse Rovers on Saturday, September 5.
