DESPITE having the better of the second half, Minehead were beaten 3-2 at home by Saltford in Division One of the Uhlsport Somerset County League yesterday (Sat).

Saltford, who have moved up to third in the table, scored all their goals in the opening 30 minutes to take a 3-0 lead.

Minehead fought back with Stefan Philips netting direct from a free-kick and Sam Heath snapping up another before half time.

Minehead looked the more likely side to score in the second half but could not break down Saltford's well-marshalled defence.

Watchet Town dropped two home points when they were held to a goalless draw by Yatton and Cleeve United.

Watchet have moved up to join Minehead on ten points, both sides having playd the same number of games.
