THE Ron Cornish Memorial Pairs champions are Micky Lynch and Mark Gunn of Will’s Boys, who beat Pete Duckett and Dave Ackland of the Cowboys by 15 pins in the final.
Earlier in the evening, the semi-finals saw Micky and Mark beat Dave Stevens and Andy Madison of Valiant Vikings B by 35 pins, while Pete and Dave beat Nick Sherrin and Steve Liddle of the Wyndham Wallys by ten pins.
The third and fourth play-off match was saw the Valiant B pair beat the Wyndham pair by just two pins.
All the matches were played in the function room at Minehead Social Club, with a good turnout of more than 60 people.
In the President’s Cup final played at the Valiant Soldier the week before, Division C champions Bellboys easily beat Tiger Cubs of Division A by 93 pins.
The Tiger Cubs were depleted, but that didn’t detract from the performance of the Bellboys, whose 625 total was one of the highest on the alley this season and good enough to win most matches.
Their top score came from Brandon Walsh with 138 pins.
They now represent the Dunster League against the Watchet League’s team, who also come from the Bell Inn and include a couple of players who could represent both teams.
The match is scheduled for Wednesday (June 8) at Watchet British Legion, starting at 8pm.
All application forms for next season are due in by this weekend (June 4) with the AGM and presentation evening being combined on Friday August 4, with the AGM starting at 7.30pm prompt.
