THE Summer League, which has been taking place at Enmore Park Golf Club for the last 20 weeks, has just ended, and this year the event has been hotly contested, with just two points separating the four leading players.
In the end, it was Neil Wicks who claimed top spot, with the result going down to count back, thanks to an excellent 23 points in week 17 after both he and Robin Coulson totalled 218 points from their 12 best scores.
Yvonne Deeble was third with 217 points, one ahead of Andrew Holcombe who claimed fourth place with 216.
The Ladies 4BBB 18-hole Stableford on Wednesday was won by Nanette Moore and Katie Gibbins with 40 points. However, it was a close-run thing for second place with two pairs returning to the clubhouse on 39 points, but after count back, it was Melanie Millar and Julie Ingram who edged into second place ahead of Jackie Woodman and Tina Morgan.
Two pairs returned with 19 points at the head of the 9-hole competition, so once again count back came into play, following which it was Pat Rodgers and Heather Neale who were first and Debra Perry and Nicola Toller who were second, while Chris Pashley and Claire Down were third on 18.
Last week, the Enmore Seniors played their last match of the season. Looking for a victory to round things off in style, they had to be content with a 3-3 draw.
The winning pairs were Jon Stafford with Steve Lukins, Peter Scott with Rob Davey, and Les Dewdney with Andy Fletcher. Well done to Peter Farnell, who got nearest the pin.
The Club Stableford, including the Seniors Wixon Trophy, was won by Martin Burroughs with 41 points, one ahead of second-placed Richard Neal with 40, with Jess Lawrence third on 38.
