AS GOOD weather conditions continue the main competition season starts to end at Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club in the Ladies Section.

At home golfers competed for the Clanville and Michaelmas Trophies. The Clanville (handicaps 0 -24) was won by Hilary Eden with an impressive nett 69, playing under her handicap. Second was Jenny Elliott, the current ladies captain with a nett 72.

The Michaelmas Bowl (for handicaps of 25 and above) was won by Pat Lucas, also with a very good nett 69. Second was Jayne Fulwell, also with a nett 72.

There was a more relaxed format with a Florida Delany Scramble - a variation on Texas Scramble, a team game. This was won by Hazel Binding, Sarah Hill and Pat Lucas with a nett score of 67. They were just one shot ahead of Ginnette Bowyer, Kay Luckett and Ruth Maclennan.

Back to medal play the next week and the Dunster Bowl and Floyd Trophy was up for grabs. The Dunster Bowl (for lower handicappers) was won by Sarah Hill (22) with an excellent nett 69, beating Deano Carlin (11) by one shot. The Floyd Trophy (higher handicappers) was won by Caz Cape, also with a very good nett 69, also beating Ginnette Bowyer by one shot.

The main competition season finishes with the Ladies Open. This is open to all ladies, prepared to travel to Minehead with a valid handicap. There are teams of three with the best 2 scores to count on each hole.

With very favourable playing conditions, especially for October, the winning team were Lesley Davies (Minehead), Ann Oglesby (Minehead) and Daphne Priddy (Oake) with a nett 141. They were just one stroke ahead of the second placed team of Flora Horne (Minehead), Deano Carlin (Minehead) and Donna Adey (Yeovil).
