WATCHET Town are set to play their first home game of the season in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League on Saturday, September 26 - and it will be no easy game (3p.m.).

Paulton Rovers Sports, who won the second division last season, provide the opposition, having lost only one of their games in Division One so far.

Watchet, on the other hand, are bottom of the table, and have lost the three matches they have played - and been forced to call off their last two away fixtures because of ‘lack of players.’

Watchet’s first team manager Nick Sully said: “At the moment the club are optimistic they can field two teams. After Saturday we are without a fixture for three weeks but, of course, this could all change.

Rovers Sports go into Saturday’s game fourth in the table, only one point behind leaders Peasedown Miners Welfare but with two crucial games in hand.

Meanwhile Minehead, who crashed 5-2 at home to Winscombe in the first round of the Uhlsport Premier and First Division Cup last weekend, will be looking to bounce back when they play away to Westfield in the first division.

“We didn’t play very well against Winscombe in the first half,” said manager Lee Todd. “We have a young side and it’s very much a learning curve for them.”

Minehead have won only one of their league games this season and are lying just above the relegation zone although they have played only five matches.

Westfield are only one point behind leaders Peasedown MW with a game in hand.
