MINEHEAD & West Somerset Golf Club Ladies beat Wheathill 6-1 at home in their first Somerset League match.

Last week’s competition was a medal (strokeplay) for the Wimbush and Junior Bowls. Karen Davis won off a handicap of 25, scoring a nett 74. Second was Ros Chidgey off a handicap of 29, scoring 76.

This week’s competition was Coronation foursomes (teams of 2 playing alternate shots). Winners were Ros Chidgey and Sue Garwood on 36 Stableford points who performed better on the back nine to beat Flora Horne and Gill Hurley. The winners qualify for a regional final.

A group of Minehead Ladies enjoyed an away day at Tavistock Golf club for their annual coffee morning. Eighteen holes of golf were played in beautiful sunshine; a good warm up for the season.

Next week sees another Somerset League match away to Tall Pines. The Ladies competition is a Stableford.

May also sees the commencement of two singles internal knockout competitions.
