IT was all change in the ladies section of Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club when the AGM took place in January instead of October.

Outgoing captain Kay Luckett had served for 15 months, and incoming captain Jenny Holland, will also serve for 15 months, as next year’s AGM will take place in March to bring the ladies’ section in line with the club’s other sections.

The last year has also seen changes in the way members book playing partners and manage the competitions, which are are all now done on computer, making it easier for everybody to keep in touch with what is going on.

The wet and windy weather has not been conducive to playing golf, but the ladies have been playing a series of knockout matches over the winter which will end in two semi-finals and a final this month.

The last Thursday of January saw a greensomes played, with a draw for partners, and the winners were Anne Oglesby and Margaret Gliddon with 33 points, followed by Jresulted in a friendly draw.

Afterwards, a coffee afternoon was held with an invited speaker to tell members about the work of St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice.

The hospice is the chosen charity of the new captain.

Last Thursday a qualifying Stableford was played and the winner was Gill Hurley with 35 points. Second was Leslie Davis (33) and third Ros Chidgey (29).
