FIRST school pupils from across the district swapped their classrooms for the sports hall last week when they took part in the annual West Somerset Area Schools Football Tournament at Knights Templar First School in Watchet.
Children from Cutcombe, Dulverton's All Saints, Dunster, St Michael's in Minehead, St Dubricius in Porlock, Minehead First, Timberscombe, St Peter's in Williton, Old Cleeve and Knights Templar took part in the event.
The pupils were cheered on by parents and friends and even managed to keep clean as the tournament was played indoors rather than on a muddy sports pitch.
In all, there were 30 games and pupils were praised for both their skills and their sportsmanship.
Knights Templar headteacher Frances Burns added: "Thanks to all those staff and volunteers who have helped run the weekly local sessions which culminated in this tournament and well done to all those players who showed such skill and determination."
